Lisa Lynx: From Circus Stages to Music Studios – A Multi-Talented Artist Building Her Legacy in the U.S.
Lisa Lynx, a rising singer-songwriter now based in New Jersey, has taken an extraordinary journey that blends music, dance, circus performance, and entrepreneurship. Born in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine—a city struggling with extreme pollution—Lisa’s early life was filled with hardship. Bullied by classmates and with her mother battling addiction, she became self-reliant early on. By 12, she was already working on projects to support herself.
“I’ve been hustling since I was a kid,” Lisa reflects on those challenging early years.
After her father moved her to Kyiv, Lisa’s passion for the performing arts took center stage. She studied pantomime at Kyiv’s Circus Academy and developed her skills in non-verbal expression. Pantomime, she explains, “taught me how to communicate emotions without saying a word.” By 17, Lisa had opened her own dance school, and soon after, she began performing with circus troupes across Europe, including Switzerland and Germany.
When the circus troupe came to the United States, Lisa felt something shift. “The U.S. felt like the place where I could build something bigger,” she recalls, and after a brief tour, she decided to stay.
Not long after her decision to settle in the U.S., the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Instead of slowing down, Lisa saw an opportunity. “COVID taught me how to make money without leaving the house,” she notes. She launched Black Yellow Dance Studio, initially offering virtual stretching classes for kids. What started as an online business quickly grew. “I started teaching stretching online, and it eventually grew into something bigger,” she adds, reflecting on how her business now has multiple studio locations across the state.
Today, with several studio locations and a growing team, Lisa’s focus is on teaching kids to build confidence through dance. “Helping kids find their confidence through dance,” she says, “is one of the most rewarding things I do.”
Her journey into music came from a deeply personal place. After a painful breakup, Lisa turned to songwriting as an emotional release. “I had all this pain, and I didn’t know where to put it,” she confides. “That’s when I turned to music.” For Lisa, singing became a way to process and balance her intense feelings.
Singing, she shares, “helps me stay grounded. It’s where I pour out everything I feel.”
Now, with new tracks rolling out, Lisa Lynx is ready to make waves in the music world. Her ability to weave together her experiences in circus, pantomime, aerial arts, and entrepreneurship sets her apart in the industry. “Everything I’ve been through—it’s in my music,” Lisa says. From launching businesses during a pandemic to mastering new forms of artistic expression, Lisa’s journey is just beginning.
“There’s so much more I want to share,” she insists, making it clear that this is just the beginning of her story.
